Parts of North India are set to witness rainfall late Tuesday night and early Wednesday as a fresh western disturbance moves across the region, bringing light showers to the plains and snowfall in the hills.
According to weather updates shared by Devendra Tripathi, founder of Mausam Tak, parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may receive light snowfall, while several areas in the northwestern plains could experience light rain and isolated thunderstorms.
In the plains, southeastern Punjab including Ludhiana and Patiala may see rainfall. Multiple districts across Haryana such as Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Sonipat, Rohtak, Panipat, Karnal, Gurugram, Faridabad and Palwal are also expected to receive light showers.
The national capital New Delhi and the surrounding NCR region could witness thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds.
Weather activity may further extend into western Uttar Pradesh, with rainfall chances from Meerut to Lucknow and Bahraich. Isolated showers are also possible in Agra, Kanpur, Mathura, Jhansi and Lalitpur. Parts of northern Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Ratlam, Gwalior, Rewa, Sidhi and Singrauli could experience scattered rainfall.
Tripathi, who also serves as a weather expert for Kisan Tak, emphasised that the overall intensity of the system is not expected to be very strong. Despite some reports of heavy rain alerts, no major rainfall event is likely across the region, he said.
Transition Phase May Bring Thunderstorms and Hail in Isolated Areas
As the season enters a transition phase, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and occasional hailstorms cannot be ruled out, particularly over the northwestern plains and parts of northern Madhya Pradesh. Such activity would depend on the development of dense cloud clusters, though current atmospheric conditions indicate only limited weather disturbances.
Meanwhile, a separate weather system over the Bay of Bengal is bringing heavy rainfall to Sri Lanka and may trigger showers in coastal Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including areas such as Thanjavur, Cuddalore, Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
Cloud cover may gradually spread toward Bengaluru, Chennai, Puducherry and Coimbatore over the coming days, with rainfall possible in these regions as well.
Most other parts of the country are expected to remain largely dry, with only localised weather activity forecast through midweek.
