MYSURU: Mysuru City police officials underwent a special training programme on disaster management and precautionary safety measures on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Mysuru Dasara festival.
The training was organised to strengthen preparedness for the large number of tourists and residents expected to participate in the celebrations scheduled from October 11 to 21, 2026.
The programme focused on detailed safety guidelines and disaster management measures that police personnel may need to implement during the festivities. The training was conducted by Pradeep head of the Tejas Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre.
According to a statement issued by the Mysuru City Police Commissioner office the programme was intended to help ensure the safety and well being of visitors arriving from different parts of India and abroad, as well as local residents.
Senior police officers and Police Inspectors from various police stations across Mysuru City participated in the training.
The initiative is part of the preparations for the large scale festival which attracts thousands of visitors to Mysuru every year. Police personnel were briefed on precautionary measures and disaster management protocols aimed at ensuring the safe and orderly conduct of the celebrations.
City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sundar Raj were also present during the special training programme.
With Dasara scheduled to take place from October 11 to 21, the police and other agencies are stepping up preparations to manage public safety, emergency situations and the movement of large crowds during the festival.
