New Delhi, September 28: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday laid the foundation stones for 53 development projects worth ₹214.12 crore across five Assembly constituencies under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The projects are expected to benefit around 1.75 lakh residents.
The works will be carried out in Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela and Nangloi Jat, with a focus on improving roads, drainage, sewerage and other basic civic infrastructure in unauthorised colonies.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the projects will cover 1,062 roads and lanes across 27 unauthorised colonies along with around 89.82 km of roads and 147.69 km of drainage networks.
Kirari has the largest share of the programme, with 27 projects worth ₹105.51 crore across 14 unauthorised colonies. The works include the development of 640 roads and lanes 50.71 km of roads and 101.42 km of drainage network.
Bawana will receive nine projects worth ₹38.83 crore, while Mundka has been allocated five projects worth ₹22.05 crore. Narela will see four projects worth ₹14.48 crore and eight projects worth ₹33.25 crore are planned in Nangloi Jat.
The proposed stormwater drainage networks are aimed at improving the flow of rainwater and reducing waterlogging during heavy rainfall. The development of paved roads and lanes is also expected to improve local connectivity and reduce dust caused by unpaved or damaged surfaces.
Gupta said development work was being undertaken in a planned manner in areas that had faced long standing infrastructure gaps. She said basic facilities such as roads, drains, sewerage and drainage should reach every part of the city.
The government said the projects are intended to improve everyday infrastructure and civic services for residents of the five constituencies as the works are implemented.
