Delhi NCR to Halt Construction and Demolition Activities from November 5 to 20 to Curb Air Pollution

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announces a complete 16 day suspension of construction and demolition activities across the National Capital Region as winter pollution measures intensify.

The National Capital Region (NCR) will witness a complete halt to construction and demolition activities from November 5 to November 20 as authorities step up efforts to control seasonal air pollution.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announced the measure on October 30, stressing that all agencies must ensure strict compliance with the directive to tackle worsening air quality across the region.

Yadav said the temporary suspension is aimed at reducing pollution during the period when Delhi-NCR typically experiences a seasonal deterioration in air quality as winter approaches.

The decision comes amid growing concerns over rising pollution levels and the need for stronger preventive measures. Construction and demolition activities can generate significant amounts of dust, adding to the region’s pollution burden.

Although recent rainfall has temporarily improved Delhi’s air quality, authorities are moving ahead with restrictions to address the expected seasonal pollution spike.

The 16 day suspension will apply across NCR, with agencies expected to ensure that construction and demolition activities remain halted throughout the specified period.
