Government and private offices across Delhi and five NCR districts will operate with a maximum of 50% physical attendance from November 5 to 20 under CAQM’s pollution control measures.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has ordered fresh preventive measures to tackle rising air pollution across Delhi NCR, including restrictions on office attendance and construction activities.
Under the directive, government and private offices in Delhi and five adjoining NCR districts will operate with up to 50% of their workforce physically present from November 5 to 20. The remaining employees will be required to work from home.
The restrictions will apply across Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Industrial establishments and essential services where work from home arrangements are not practical have been exempted.
In its order issued on October 30, CAQM directed the Delhi government, state governments in the National Capital Region and other implementing agencies to ensure that the measures are followed.
The move is part of efforts to reduce pollution during the winter season, when deteriorating weather conditions and emissions from multiple sources often contribute to poor air quality across the region. The effectiveness of the measures will depend on proper implementation and compliance by offices and other concerned agencies.
