The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Himachal Pradesh, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the state on Monday and Tuesday.
Heavy to very heavy rain is also expected at isolated places in Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh. Several other states are likely to experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds as the southwest monsoon remains active.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to remain wet over the coming days. The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh with wet conditions likely to continue through August 14.
In east Rajasthan heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast on Monday with very heavy rain possible in some areas during August 10 and 11. West Madhya Pradesh is also under a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning while east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh may receive heavy rain.
Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rain at isolated locations while thunderstorms and lightning are possible across parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
Jharkhand may receive heavy rain, while Bihar and Odisha are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. Rainfall activity is expected to remain widespread over Jharkhand and Odisha during the coming days.
In the Northeast heavy rain is expected over parts of Assam and Meghalaya, along with thunderstorms and lightning. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may also experience rain and thunderstorms.
Delhi NCR is also likely to receive rain. The IMD has forecast heavy rain at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, along with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.
Along the west coast, Konkan and Goa are expected to receive widespread rainfall. Scattered rain is likely over Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Saurashtra and Kutch, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in some areas.
Southern states are also likely to remain wet. Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep may receive widespread rainfall, with heavy rain possible in parts of these regions and south interior Karnataka. Parts of Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana may also receive rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in some areas.
The IMD expects monsoon activity to remain strong across several parts of the country through August 13-15. Heavy rainfall is likely to continue over parts of the hills, central India, the Northeast, Jharkhand, Odisha and the west coast, while very heavy rain may persist in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and the Northeast.
