The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority provides financial assistance to residents whose homes are partially or completely damaged by natural disasters. The scheme covers affected houses in both plain and hilly areas, with the amount depending on the extent of damage type of house and location.
Assistance Ranges From Rs 4,000 to Rs 1.30 Lakh
For a pucca or kutcha house that has been severely damaged or completely destroyed, eligible residents can receive Rs 1.20 lakh per house in plain areas. In hilly areas, including districts covered under the Integrated Action Plan, the assistance is Rs 1.30 lakh.
For houses suffering at least 15% damage, the assistance is set at Rs 6,500 for a pucca house other than a hut and Rs 4,000 for a kutcha house other than a hut. A damaged or destroyed hut is eligible for Rs 8,000.
The scheme also provides Rs 3,000 for a cattle shed attached to a damaged house.
A hut under the scheme refers to a temporary and transferable structure made from materials such as thatch, mud or plastic and recognised as a hut by the state or district administration.
Before assistance is released, authorities must verify that the damaged house was an authorised construction. The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand and must own the house affected by the natural disaster.
The damage assessment begins at the local level. The concerned patwari records the damage in the P-20 form. The report is then examined and verified by the tehsildar and sub-divisional magistrate (SDM).
The P-20 Entry Confirmation recorded by the patwari is the key document in the process, while additional documents may be required depending on the circumstances of the case.
There is no separate online application process under the procedure outlined for the scheme. Instead, the relief process is initiated through the local revenue administration after information about the disaster and damage is received.
Following verification by the patwari, tehsildar and SDM, the proposal is sent for approval by the district magistrate (DM). Once the DM approves the assistance, the relief amount is disbursed to eligible beneficiaries at the tehsil level.
